Fragment Compositions
My practice draws on material, loosely related to memory and considers an evocative sense of time and place.
I use old discarded books that have blemished and dilapidated surfaces to create abstract and figurative collages.

The fragment compositions have emerged from the distressed sections of found material. They are arranged together, expressing the imprint of time through faded and worn elements. The text which can be random, is a key factor; it may suggest the title, the subject matter, provide a background or a gesture to break up the pictorial surface. These painterly collages balance texture, a subdued palette and contrasting surfaces to create eclectic compositions.
